What is the FICA tip credit?

Restaurants and other tipped businesses pay Social Security and Medicare taxes on the tips their employees report. A federal tax credit lets the business claim back the employer taxes paid on tips above the minimum wage level.

Many businesses claim less than they could, and some miss it in certain years. A review checks what was claimed against what the business qualified for.
